Georgia rightfully regained their top spot on top of all the rankings, but where Tennessee would land was likely the committee’s most difficult decision. They came in at #5, just behind TCU. I’m a bit surprised by that, given Tennessee’s resumé up to this point, but TCU has a lot of tough opponents remaining on their schedule, beginning this weekend against in-state rival Texas.
Following losses, Alabama and Clemson tumbled down to the bottom of the top 10. They will both have a very difficult time making the College Football Playoff, no matter what happens in front of them.
Moving down the rankings, Texas and Notre Dame were the two biggest risers. The Longhorns came up with a huge win over Kansas State, while the Fighting Irish throttled Clemson. Notre Dame could tremendously impact the rest of these rankings as they play USC later in the season. If they can find a way to upset the Trojans, it will be very difficult for the Pac-12 to get a team into the playoff.
