The Georgia Bulldogs get their second commitment of the day at the safety position as UAB transfer Adrian Maddox has announced he is flipping away from his recent commitment to the Florida Gators and will be playing between the hedges next season instead. Georgia landed Miami transfer Jaden Harris earlier in the day. Like Harris, Maddox is a Georgia native, playing his high school ball at Heritage in Conyers.
In his lone season at UAB, Maddox was quite productive. He racked up 44 tackles, had eight passes defended, two forced fumbles, and a 99-yard interception return for a touchdown. Maddox previously played at Alabama State before his time at UAB and recorded 90 tackles, 10 passes defended, and two interceptions.
The addition of Maddox on the heels of Harris also signing with the Dawgs is a big deal when you look at what Georgia is losing. Two-time All-American Malaki Starks announced he is going to the NFL yesterday and team leader Dan Jackson is out of eligibility. Georgia also lost depth pieces in Jake Pope and David Daniel-Sisavanh.
Georgia is not finished in the transfer portal either. Look for the Dawgs to add one more defensive back and possibly an EDGE player on defense. Offensively, Georgia is courting Texas A&M receiver Noah Thomas very hard and could add a running back as well.
