The Falcons are on a two-game skid, and Arthur Smith’s seat is scorching hot if you ask fans, especially those who are in Athens for the Georgia and Ole Miss game.
The Pat McAfee Show travels with College GameDay every week while Atlanta’s head coach joins for a weekly segment. This week GameDay is in Athens, and when Smith joined the show, he was met with a shower of boos from Georgia fans, who are clearly also Falcons fans.

The Falcons sit at 4-5 through nine games, which is the same exact spot they’ve been the past two years under the new regime. The club is underachieving to this point in the season, and a lot of it falls at the feet of Smith.
Many fans have called for his job, which is just fandom taking over. No sensible person would fire Smith at this juncture in the season. There’s still half of a season to be played, and the Falcons have total control over their destiny with a 2-0 record in the division.
Also, if we consider the circumstances, there’s no way Smith’s seat is even warm. Arthur Blank isn’t the type of owner to fire a head coach too early. Have Falcons fans learned nothing from the Mike Smith and Dan Quinn eras? If anything, Blank hangs on too long.
Arthur Smith’s seat may be warming, but it’s not at the temperature that fans might think or want. Even if the team were to nose-dive, it would have to be such a spectacular downfall that a termination would be obvious. I don’t think that will happen.
That won’t stop fans from voicing their displeasure, though.
