Georgia Bulldogs: Trevor Etienne announces NFL Draft decision

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: DEC 07 SEC Championship Game Georgia vs Texas

Despite earlier reports hinting at Trevor Etienne returning for his senior season, the Georgia running back will not return to Athens in 2025, announcing his intentions to enter this year’s NFL Draft.

This is another massive loss for the Georgia Bulldogs, coming right on the heels of Damon Wilson committing to Missouri earlier tonight.

Etienne dealt with several nagging injuries throughout the season, but still carried the ball for 609 yards on 122 carries, an average of five yards per rush. He also added another 194 yards through the air and accounted for nine touchdowns, all of which came on the ground.

Kirby Smart often referred to Trevor Etienne as the best player on the team when healthy and another year in Athens might have improved his draft stock. However, running backs have a strict time clock. If Etienne feels like he’s ready for the next level, it’s best he not waste any more time.

It’s a tough blow for the Bulldogs, but with it, more opportunities are created for some younger backs, and Georgia is chock-full of talented guys that can run the rock. All eyes will be on sophomore Nate Frazier next year, who carried the ball 133 times for 671 yards with eight touchdowns as a freshman. He could be in line for a monster second season, and running back could be another place the Bulldogs look to add as the offseason continues.
