The Falcons have hosted around a dozen draft prospects on top 30 visits, and today, the club will host a local pro day.
There will be nearly 60 Georgia-based prospects at Flowery Branch. Basically, you must have attended a high school in the metro Atlanta area or attended one of the major colleges in the state.
Check out the full list of the players slated to attend on the team’s website, but the most notable NFL prospects are Ladd McConkey, Javon Bullard, Daijun Edwards, and Kendall Milton, all former Bulldogs.
Edwards and Milton are both projected to be Day 3 picks, but the running back position in the league isn’t one to discriminate based on draft position. The Falcons are the perfect example. Tyler Allgeier is a former Day 3 pick and holds the franchise record for rookie rushing yards.
Javon Bullard is considered undersized at 5-foot-10 and under 200 pounds, but he ran a 4.47 40-yard dash and plays much bigger than his size. His mind might be his most impressive asset, and as a safety, that can’t be talked about enough.
Ladd McKonkey is the headliner, though. He was limited to just nine games due to back and ankle injuries, but even in those contests, he wasn’t 100% and still put up 478 yards and two scores.
He’s a savvy route runner with deceptive speed and elite short-area quickness. Depending on the offense, McKonkey should be able to carve out a nice role at the NFL level.
The Falcons have the luxury of sitting in one of, if not the most densely packed talent-rich state in the country. The club will be taking a close look at all of these 59 local prospects because there’s almost surely a diamond in the rough.
