Georgia Bulldogs set to host two five-star prospects

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: NOV 06 Missouri at Georgia

The Georgia Bulldogs are gearing up for crucial recruiting visits from two of the top prospects in the 2026 class—five-star quarterback Jared Curtis and five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell. Both players are among the most sought-after recruits in the country, and their upcoming trips to Athens could play a pivotal role in Georgia’s future.

Jared Curtis: A Former Georgia Commit Weighing His Options

Jared Curtis, a five-star quarterback from Nashville, Tennessee, was once firmly committed to Georgia before backing off his pledge in December of 2024. Now, the Bulldogs remain one of only two programs still in contention for his services, with the Oregon Ducks emerging as the primary competition.

Curtis has scheduled two crucial unofficial visits in March that could set the tone for his final decision. On March 8th, he will head to Eugene to get another look at Dan Lanning’s Oregon program. Five days later, on March 13th, he will return to Athens to visit Georgia once again. While both of these visits are unofficial, Curtis is expected to take official visits to both schools later this summer before announcing his commitment.

At 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, Curtis possesses all the tools of an elite quarterback prospect. His combination of arm strength, mobility, and leadership has made him one of the most highly coveted signal-callers in the nation. Georgia, under offensive coordinator Mike Bobo, is hoping to bring him back into the fold and solidify its quarterback depth for the future.

Jackson Cantwell: The Top Offensive Lineman in 2026

While Curtis’ recruitment is nearing its final stretch, Georgia is also making a strong push for another generational talent in five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell. Widely regarded as the top offensive line prospect—and possibly the No. 1 overall player—in the 2026 class, Cantwell is a massive presence at 6-foot-8, 300 pounds. His size, athleticism, and technique have made him one of the most dominant high school linemen in recent memory.

Georgia will get its shot at impressing Cantwell when he takes his official visit to Athens on the weekend of June 6th. Offensive line coach Stacey Searls has built a strong track record of recruiting massive offensive linemen, but the addition of Cantwell would be the most talented to date. With the Bulldogs consistently producing NFL-caliber linemen, Athens could be an attractive destination for a player of Cantwell’s caliber.

Miami, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio State, and Oregon are also in line to receive official visits.

Georgia’s Recruiting Momentum

As Georgia continues to push for another elite recruiting class, the upcoming visits from Curtis and Cantwell are critical. Kirby Smart and his staff have consistently landed top-tier talent, and securing commitments from these two prospects would further solidify Georgia’s dominance on the recruiting trail. The 2026 recruiting class will be a predictive indicator for all of college football as we are now entering the era of revenue sharing between schools and their players directly. Georgia’s recruiting rankings were consistently in the Top-5 in the country during the NIL era. Landing Curtis and Cantwell would go a long way towards ensuring no dropoff in the new landscape of major college football recruiting.
