With all of Georgia’s most experienced EDGE defenders heading to the NFL Draft, the expectation was that Damon Wilson would step up and be the guy in Athens next season. But that was before he shockingly entered his name into the transfer portal soon after the Bulldogs lost to Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl.
Georgia was still holding out hope that he might return, but just like free agency in professional leagues, once teams start calling and making mega-offers, it becomes increasingly difficult to convince players to stay. That’s exactly what happened with Damon Wilson, who has officially committed to the Missouri Tigers.
BREAKING: Georgia transfer EDGE Damon Wilson has Committed to Missouri, he tells @on3sports
The 6’4 250 EDGE totaled 22 Tackles, 3 Sacks, 2 FF, & 2 FR this season

Wilson’s production from this past season may not look like much, only recording 22 tackles and three sacks. However, his level of play when he was on the field was extremely encouraging for his future. He’s one of those athletes that’s just built differently, and the loss is a massive one for the Bulldogs, who will now be relying on a ton of inexperienced players next season.
Junior Gabe Harris will likely lead the charge, but it would be surprising if Kirby Smart and this Bulldogs staff didn’t look for at least one more addition in the transfer portal, if not multiple.
