Nobody has been more active than the Georgia Bulldogs in the transfer portal over the last week. Kirby Smart and the rest of the coaching staff have acknowledged the holes on the roster and have been aggressively attacking them since the day they lost in the Sugar Bowl to Notre Dame.
Most notably, the Bulldogs have strengthened their wide receiver core with the additions of Noah Thomas from Texas A&M and Zachariah Branch from USC. The position was a major area of concern throughout the entire season, and the addition of two experienced playmakers gives the unit a much better outlook heading into 2025. In fact, the entire skill position group around Gunner Stockton — if he is indeed named Georgia’s starting quarterback next season — inspires a lot of confidence.
Trevor Etienne, who Kirby Smart called the Bulldogs’ best player when healthy, is returning for another season, solidifying a loaded running back room that was also added to today via the transfer portal. According to Hayes Fawcett of ON3 Sports, former Notre Dame and Vanderbilt running back Micah Bell will be joining the Bulldogs in 2025 and will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Micah Bell is the younger brother of Dillon Bell, who recently announced his intentions to return for his senior season. Micah has yet to make an impact at the collegiate level, but he offers the Georgia offense another speedy weapon that can be a threat both on the ground and through the air.
There will be no shortage of weapons for whoever is under center for the Bulldogs next season. The chief concern now is the offensive line. It was already a sore spot in 2024, and with four members of the unit off to the NFL, there remains a lot of work to be done for Kirby Smart this offseason.
