The two that stand out and took most of the Braves international signing pool money are Diego Tornes and Raudy Reyes.
Tornes — a 6-foot-4, 200-pound outfielder — signed for $2.5 million and is widely considered a top five international prospect in this year’s class. He’s a switch hitter with incredible power from both sides of the plate at just 16-years-old.
Reyes — a 6-foot-4, 220-pound right-handed pitcher — signed for $1.8 million and has the biggest arm in this year’s class, already capable of hitting 100 miles per hour on the radar gun at just 16-years-old.
This is the biggest arm the Braves (or anybody) are adding in the IFA period. Raudy Reyes sits 96-98 mph as a 16 year old. Super easy and clean delivery.

The two combined for $4.3 million of the Braves $6.2 million available in international bonus pool money for this year. They’ll be guys to watch closely moving forward; however, the volatility of these prospects because of their age is incredibly high. It’s not always the players that receive the highest signing bonuses that go on to have the best careers.
Take Ronald Acuña Jr., for example. He received just a $100,000 signing bonus to join the Braves and was 5-foot-10, 160 pounds when he signed. However, it didn’t take long to realize Atlanta found a gem. He quickly rose up the prospect ranks to become the top prospect in all of baseball before winning the NL Rookie of the Year award and becoming one of the faces of baseball before the age of 25.
