The news all Braves fans have been waiting for: Freddie Freeman has been reinstated from the 15-Day DL and will be with the team tonight in St.Louis. He will not be starting, but he will be available if the team needs him. The Braves are currently just 6.5 games back of the division leading Nationals. The lead is not insurmountable, but it did get a lot harder with the departures of Kelly Johnson and Juan Uribe. However, the addition of Freeman in the lineup should more than make up for that. The Braves are averaging under 2.8 runs per game without Freeman in the lineup.
Other roster moves include the the optioning of Joey Terdoslavich to AAA Gwinnett. Terdoslavich has really stuggled in his time in the majors this year. He is hitting under .160 on the season and it is unclear what his future with the Braves will be like.
The Braves also called up infielder Daniel Castro. Castro is a contact back and will likely only be a utility option for the Braves. Castro is a borderline top 30 prospect for Atlanta, and the team believes he has a bright future in baseball. He now gets his chance to step up, as he has only spent one day in the Majors in his career. Adonis Garcia will also join the Braves in St. Louis tonight. He will be hitting 6th and playing 3rd base in tonight’s game. Garcia is a 30-year old player who made his MLB debut with the Braves earlier this season. He can play in both the infield and the outfield.
