The Atlanta Hawks were already pretty thin at big man heading into training camp with Dewayne Dedmon recovering from injury. It appears the team may have more injuries than the casual fan would have thought:
Add Daniel Hamilton (shoulder) and Omari Spellman (shin soreness) to Hawks list of unavailable players to start training camp. Dewayne Dedmon and Justin Anderson previously reported.

It’s clear now why the Hawks brought in some extra bigs such as Thomas Robinson. Without Dedmon and Spellman, they are looking very thin at that spot.
The positive news is that Dedmon is expected back before the beginning of the season, and Spellman is supposed to only be out 7-10 days with shin soreness per Chris Vivlamore. Jeremy Lin has also been practicing in a limited fashion.
The injuries to Hamilton and Anderson leave the Hawks lacking depth on the wing as well, but these two are not projected to play as big of a role anyways.
These injuries aren’t a major issue, but on a tanking team with a bunch of injuries and spots up for grabs, it could make a difference who ends up making the final roster.
