That 2020 draft class was headlined by A.J. Terrell. Even though the selection was met with criticism at the time, Terrell has become one of the best first-round selections in Falcons history.
The same cannot be said for Marlon Davidson, who Atlanta took the round after Terrell. The Auburn product was supposed to be the long-term running mate next to Grady Jarrett. Fans, analysts, and the Falcons were high on the pick, but Davidson never established himself.
He appeared in 19 games over two seasons in Atlanta, eventually landing on the injured reserve at the start of the 2022 campaign. With a new regime in charge and no connection to Davidson, Terry Fontenot and Arthur Smith parted ways with the defensive lineman.
He ended up spending some time on the 49ers practice squad this season but didn’t appear in a regular season game and hasn’t taken a regular season snap since the 2021 campaign.
During his time in Atlanta, Davidson tallied 21 tackles, one sack and a pick-six on Tom Brady that might be the highlight of his career. Now, he’ll help the Titans prepare to face his former team as the Falcons travel to Nashville.
