With the Falcons set to travel to Minnesota this weekend for a date with the Vikings and a reunion for Kirk Cousins, their opponents will be shorthanded on the defense. According to Tom Pelissero, former Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore will be out for Sunday’s contest.

In what should be a spectacular moment for Kirk Cousins to return to Minnesota after so many years playing there, the Vikings’ defense just got a little easier to move the ball on without Gilmore.
In his absence, Brian Flores will likely have to turn to a familiar face in Fabian Moreau behind Shaq Griffin and Byron Murphy Jr., with rookie Dwight McGlothern is the only other healthy corner on the active roster.
The Falcons offense has been spinning its wheels the past three games, in part due to Kirk Cousins’ struggles. Fortunately, there’s reason to believe Cousins, Zac Robinson, and Atlanta’s offense can turn it around against a stout Minnesota defense.
If the Falcons can convert in the red zone and limit the turnovers, I’m optimistic that the Falcons will upset the Vikings and get this season back on track.
