The MLB may be in a lockout, but players can still sign minor league deals, and one former Brave that was an underrated piece to last year’s team has done just that. Late last night, or early this morning really, Abraham Almonte signed a deal with the Milwaukee Brewers organization.

Almonte was eventually DFA’d in August once the team got back to full strength, and his numbers on the season were nothing to write home about, but for a while, he was a critical piece that held the team together. Over his first 16 games, he hit .300 with a homer and five RBIs, resulting in a 1.013 OPS. It may not seem like much, but in a season that could have fallen apart so easily, Almonte is just as deserving as anyone else of a ring.
