The Falcons offense has been abysmal through the first three weeks of the season. Almost none of their players have provided anything in fantasy realms. Matt Ryan has almost been unplayable, but this week might be a chance to stream him if your quarterback has a bad matchup. Washington Football Team is struggling defensively and ranks 16th in pass defense DVOA, but more importantly, they’re giving up the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks through Week 3.
Ryan should be able to move the ball, but if WFT’s defensive line gets pressure, he won’t be able to take advantage of the other weaknesses on the team. I would generally say to always start Calvin Ridley and Kyle Pitts, but both have been missing in this offense. Most fantasy owners can’t afford to sit one of these players, but if you can, it might be time to consider sitting them. Cordarrelle Patterson is becoming a very good FLEX option in some 12, 14, and 16-team leagues.
However, with all the Falcons’ offensive struggles, the WFT defense has been underwhelming this season. Arthur Smith could take advantage and get his offense back on track. Washington Football Team has a couple of players that should be started every week — Terry McLaurin and Antonio Gibson. Outside of those two players, there aren’t many options.
I wouldn’t start JD McKissic because he is still the change-of-pace back behind Gibson. It was evident in Week 3 as Gibson dominated the number of touches out of the backfield. Logan Thomas continues to improve after a breakout year in 2020. He’s scored a touchdown in two of the first three games and has 14 targets in that same time frame. The Falcons have been torched by tight ends, giving up the seventh-most PPR fantasy points to opposing tight ends. Thomas is the team’s second-most targeted pass catcher, so he is an absolute starter this week.
