As always, a lot of projections were low on the Braves entering the season. It’s been the same song and dance every year for the last five years now. However, one site is bullish on the Braves’ chances to repeat as champions — FanGraphs. Following the first weekend of the season, their metrics give Atlanta the best shot to win the World Series in 2022.

FanGraphs gives the Braves an 89% chance of making the playoffs and a 52.8% chance of winning the NL East to go along with their 12.5% chance to win the World Series. That’s the highest of any team, even the Dodgers, who have been praised by many entering the season as one of the best rosters ever put together.
Well, whoever is writing those pieces or coming up with those projections must not pay a lot of attention to baseball. The Dodgers are a very well put together team. They could easily win the most games this season and even capture the World Series, but this year’s roster isn’t better than the one they had last season. Freddie Freeman was a fantastic addition, but he doesn’t make up for the losses of Corey Seager and Max Scherzer. On paper, the Braves are just as well polished in all three phases, and it’s nice to see some other national publications recognize that.
