Falcons veteran evades question about the playoffs

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, the Falcons bandwagon is leaving the station.

In reality, nobody is paying attention to what Arthur Smith is building in Atlanta. Why should they? The club has been the laughingstock of the NFL since blowing a 25-point lead in the Super Bowl.

Since the new regime has taken over, nothing has been exciting about the Falcons. They’ve strung together 14 wins over two seasons in subtle fashion. However, that’s set to change in 2023.

The Falcons should be much-improved this season after the front office completely overhauled the defense, adding playmakers to all three levels, while adding two starters to the offensive side of the ball in the first two rounds of the draft.

If you ask Arthur Smith, though, he’d probably prefer to remain under the radar. That’s exactly why Bradley Pinion evaded a question about the team’s playoff chances on Good Morning Football, talking about the guys in the locker room instead of answering the question directly.

If you don’t know by now, Arthur Smith has that Bill Belichick-esque personality. He’s got a dry sense of humor, a zero-tolerance policy, and HATES the media.

Now, Smith understands reporters are just trying to do their job when asking him and his players questions; however, he rarely divulges. That resonates throughout the organization.

This response from Bradley Pinion is exactly what Arthur Smith would’ve said. Imagine what his head coach would’ve said to him had Pinion puffed his chest out?

From a source within the organization, I know how critical Atlanta’s head coach can be of players’ extracurriculars, particularly on social media and in the media in general. This shouldn’t surprise anyone, and it’s not indicative of Pinion’s actual beliefs about the team’s playoff chances.
