My fellow co-host of Talkin’ Birdy, Matt Karoly, reported earlier that Matt Gono could potentially miss the entire 2021 season. Still, thankfully, the outlook of the official announcement from the Falcons seems to be a bit more optimistic.
According to a source, Falcons OL Matt Gono did have a recent surgery. Source says the injury — which is undisclosed at this point — is not season ending.
Still seeking out more information and will pass it along when I receive it.

Credit to Matt, he was the first to report the injury, but there is optimism that Gono doesn’t appear done for all of 2021. However, it does seem like he will miss some time. He was expected to compete for a spot on the Falcons offensive line, and a group that is already fairly thin gets even thinner.
Since Gono was signed to a restricted free agent second-round tender, his salary is fully guaranteed. Hopefully, Gono can be healthy for the start of the season, but we will keep you updated as more information comes out. For now, the Falcons are rightfully in no position to share the severity of the injury.
