Less than two weeks away from the NFL Draft, the buzz is growing around Flowery Branch as the Falcons hold the 8th overall pick.
Terry Fontenot will once again have an excellent opportunity to add a blue chip prospect that will hopefully become a difference maker for a team with championship aspirations.
Coming into the offseason, many considered the Falcons to be wild cards because of their glaring need for a quarterback, but with Kirk Cousins in the fold, draft pundits seemingly have their thumb on the pulse of the front office.
Dallas Turner has been the most popular prospect going to the Falcons in mock drafts, and the consensus carries to Vegas as well. Oddsmakers believe it’s going to be Turner, as the Alabama product sits as the heavy betting favorite to go 8th.
However, acting like mock drafts and Vegas are gospel isn’t wise. There’s always a chance it’s someone other than Turner, but I feel safe in saying that the Falcons’ first-round pick will be attending the NFL Draft in Detroit.

Qinyon Mitchell, Terrion Arnold, Dallas Turner, Rome Odunze, Malik Nabers, and Laiatu Latu are the prospects that have been mocked to the Falcons the most.
Even if Atlanta trades out of the 8th pick, one of those prospects is still very much in play. There is always a possibility that a wild card is taken, but the one prospect that has been connected to Atlanta that won’t be in attendance is Jared Verse.
If we were wagering, I’ll take those odds that one of Mitchell, Arnold, Turner, Odunze, Nabers, or Latu is the selection over Verse. It is very likely that the Falcons’ top draft pick will walk across the stage and shake Rodger Goodell’s hand.
