As the NFL draft approaches, the Falcons are still in desperate need of roster help, given the league has still yet to hit free agency. Once free agency comes and goes, we’ll have a much better idea of what the Falcons roster could look like as we inch closer to April’s draft.
It isn’t breaking news the Falcons are in desperate need of a talent infusion to the roster, so stockpiling draft picks would behoove the rebuild Terry Fontenot finds himself in the middle of.
Trading Julio Jones last offseason netted the Falcons a second-round pick in 2022 and a fourth-rounder in 2021. There’s also the prospect of Atlanta fielding trade offers for Calvin Ridley, Grady Jarrett, Deion Jones, and Matt Ryan. Meaning there’s a potential reality where the Falcons come away with some seriously deep draft classes.
For now, that is purely speculative; however, the Falcons should receive another pick. Atlanta is set to receive a sixth-round pick as a compensatory pick for losing Alex Mack, per Over The Cap. Here are the projected picks:
- Round 1, Pick 8
- Round 2, Pick 43
- Round 2, Pick 58
- Round 3, Pick 74
- Round 4, Pick 113
- Round 5, Pick 151
- Round 6, Pick 189
- Round 6, Pick 212
With eight draft selections in the 2022 NFL draft, the Falcons will have a great opportunity to fill the laundry list of roster needs. The compensatory pick for Mack isn’t official yet, but we should receive news soon on that front.
