Come one, come all! Interview requests for the Falcons head coaching job are flying off the shelves. As of Thursday, we are approaching double digit candidates.
Aaron Glenn, Anthony Weaver, and Ben Johnson were the first trio we were made aware of. They were followed by Steve Wilks. Now, we have two offensive-minded candidates in Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan and Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik.
The #Falcons put in a request to interview #Bengals OC Brian Callahan for their head coaching job, per source.
That's four for Callahan, who also has requests from Tennessee, Carolina and the #Chargers.

I grouped the pair for obvious reasons — offense.
Callahan is a much less desirable candidate in my eyes, but I’ll get to that after telling you his background. He got his start in the league in 2010 with the Broncos as an assistant and eventually was promoted in Denver to an offensive quality control coach and then an offensive assistant in 2013.
After his six seasons in Denver, Brian Callahan spent his next three years as a quarterbacks coach with two clubs, the Detroit Lions in 2016 and 2017 and then the Oakland Raiders in 2018. In 2019, he joined the Bengals as an offensive coordinator but has yet to call plays as Zac Taylor holds those responsibilities, which is where my problems stem.
How are you going to hire an offensive coordinator who has never called plays? That’s a recipe for disaster, and I don’t want it to be the Falcons. That’s not the case with Bobby Slowik.
The Texans OC has helped C.J. Stroud to a likely Offensive Rookie of the Year campaign and the team to a postseason berth. He’s heralded for his ability to maximize his personnel, but his lack of experience is a bit concerning. Nonetheless, Slowik is much more attractive to me than Callahan.
