The anticipation for the return of the Falcons red throwback helmets was palpable. The team debuted the domes in a Week 6 tilt against the 49ers, and they were beautiful. Even sweeter, the Falcons came out on top in their most dominant performance of the season against one of the favorites to come out of the NFC.
When the club announced the return of the helmets that Tommy Nobis and the 60s Falcons donned, Brett Jewkes, the Cheif Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of AMB Group, told Kevin Knight and Evan Birchfield of the Falcoholic that fans will see the red helmets more than once in 2022.
“I think a lot of people interpreted the debut as the total,” Jewkes said via the Falcoholic Podcast. “Just remember this: red helmets are like potato chips.”
Honestly, that’s a hilarious characterization of the red helmets, and the time is now as the team announced the return of the throwbacks for the Falcons Week 13 contest against the Steelers.

If history holds true, the Falcons will win this weekend as they did against the 49ers. The Steelers have one of the largest fan bases in the country, so Falcons fans should expect a competitive crowd in the Benz. At the Bears game a couple of weeks ago, fans were outnumbered, and the noise differential was apparent. Hopefully, as the Dirty Birds boast the red helmets, the fan presence is a little more skewed to the good guys.
