With COVID-19 cases rising in Georgia, and the United States, the Falcons are set to announce that no fans will be allowed inside the training camp facility this year at Flowery Branch.
Jeff Shultz of The Athletic tweeted the news on Thursday morning. He also mentioned that there is “an increasing likelihood that there will be no preseason games,” which is not ideal for those desperately hoping a season will be played.
Banning fans from training camp and potentially canceling the entire preseason are precautionary measures that are being taken to limit the spread of COVID-19, which will raise the chances of the season being played. The NFL already canceled the first and fourth preseason games, cutting that down to a total of two games. There is also the possibility of the season being pushed back, hoping that cases around the country will decline.
There have already been announcements by a handful of professional sports teams that no fans will be allowed in stadiums, and others are preparing to operate at a limited capacity. Like all leagues, the NFL is prioritizing safety while continuing to make sure a season is possible.
