Roster cuts are underway around the NFL, and the Falcons have had their first couple of surprises of the afternoon. First, Darren Hall was waived. A member of the new regime’s first draft class joins Jalen Mayfield, Frank Darby, and potentially Ade Ogundeji.
It’s not a great look, but no team bats 1.000 in the draft. Another shocking move — the Falcons are also moving on from Timmy Horne, who started a handful of games in 2022 after joining the club as an UDFA.
The first surprise cut for the Falcons (at least to me). Atlanta has waived DL Timmy Horne, per source. He started five games for them last season.
Would not be surprised if he ends up back on practice squad if he clears waivers.

Timmy Horne had a ton of productive snaps last year, and like Rothstein states, this a pretty shocking move. This paves the way for Joe Gaziano and Albert Huggins to potentially make the roster, but it could also mean the Falcons are scouring other teams’ scraps for potential depth pieces along the defensive front.
Unlike Rothstein, I don’t think Horne makes it past the other 31 teams on the waiver wire to end up back on Atlanta’s practice squad. I hope that’s the case, but the Falcons defender has shown enough to be kept on a 53-man roster somewhere around the league.
