Falcons Super Bowl villain says what all fans are thinking

NFL: JAN 30 Super Bowl Opening Night Falcons

Everyone is piling on the Falcons right now. Whether it’s Kirk Cousins falling flat, Raheem Morris not playing starters in the preseason, or any other number of issues, fans are taking their turn throwing jabs. That includes Super Bowl villain Devonta Freeman, who took to Twitter/X to voice his opinion on his former team …

Freeman gave the Falcons a lot of good football, including a ton of production in their magical Super Bowl run in 2016. However, no matter how much he did for the organization, fans will only remember one thing.

Freeman made a huge mistake in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl in 2017. It was the one play that helped swing the momentum to the Patriots more than any other — the strip-sack of Matt Ryan by Dont’a Hightower. If Freeman hadn’t whiffed on his blocking assignment, who knows how the game would’ve shaken out.

Even though the former Falcons running back didn’t say anything that every other fan has said, it’s been received terribly because of who said it. Freeman is right, what we watched was trash.

The Falcons defense did its job at times, but A.J. Terrell was dominated by George Pickens. The new-look pass rush didn’t put much pressure on Justin Fields. Kirk Cousins looked awful in his Falcons debut. Zac Robinson didn’t do anything to help his quarterback, and neither did the offensive line.

It was an ugly outing in most facets. The Falcons have a lot to clean up, and they know it, but fans certainly don’t want to hear about it from Devonta Freeman, even if he’s saying what everyone is thinking. He has been demonized for his role in the Super Bowl collapse.
