According to Josh Kendall of The Athletic, the Falcons will be sitting most of their starters during tonight’s preseason finale against the Steelers.
The Atlanta Falcons will not play the majority of their starters tonight in their preseason finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, according to a league source.
Selfishly, I was hoping to see a little of the first unit tonight, mostly because the offensive in particular looked so promising during their one drive of the preseason. Falcons fans everywhere are ready to see Bijan Robinson break one off, Desmond Ridder show signs of improvement, and Drake London and Kyle Pitts make highlight reel catches. There’s a lot of warranted excitement around this group, but fans will have to wait until Week 1 to see it live in action.
The decision is probably for the best. The Falcons are already thin at a number of positions. The risk of losing another key contributor before the start of the regular season outweighs the potential reward. But I think I speak for all Falcons fans when I say September 10th can’t get here fast enough.
