The Falcons have been one of the quieter teams this offseason, but they did sign two players early this morning — running back Mike Davis and linebacker Barkevious Mingo.

More #Falcons news: Atlanta is signing former #Bears LB Barkevious Mingo to a 1-year deal, source said. Some LB depth and special teams help from the former first-rounder.

Davis is originally from Atlanta, graduating from Stone Mountain High School before taking his talents to the University of South Carolina. Since being a fourth-round draft pick by the 49ers in 2015, he has bounced around a bit. Most recently, he spent last season with the Carolina Panthers in what was the most productive year of his career.
Christian McCaffery dealt with multiple injuries, leading to Davis taking over the role as the lead back. He started in 12 of the 15 games he played, racking up 642 yards on 165 carries with six touchdowns. Davis also proved to be a threat in the receiving game, totaling 373 yards on 53 receptions.
According to Rapoport, the deal is for two years with $3 million guaranteed in year one. That’s a more than reasonable contract for Davis’ services, and it fills a massive void at the running back position, allowing Terry Fontenot and company to focus elsewhere during the draft.
Mingo hasn’t lived up to his sixth overall selection, but he’s still a solid depth piece at the outside linebacker position. He appeared in all 16 games last season for the Bears, starting in three of them and combining for 35 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
