The Falcons continue to bolster the roster as the NFL draft approaches. They announced on Monday they signed two offensive free agents — Auden Tate and Qadree Ollison.
Tate is a big-bodied receiver that comes over from the Bengals, who selected him in the last round of the 2018 draft. With Cincy, Tate played in 35 games and started 12 of them, where he totaled nearly 800 receiving yards on 61 receptions, including two touchdowns. He comes to Atlanta on a one-year deal, where he’ll have a legit shot at being one of the team’s top receiving targets.
Ollison re-joins the team after the Falcons signed Damien Williams during the first wave of free agency and brought back Cordarrelle Patterson on a two-year deal. Ollison keeps the running back group young, but he’s undoubtedly a depth piece.
A fifth-round pick of the 2019 draft, Ollison hasn’t quite lived up to expectations, but he hasn’t necessarily had many opportunities to prove himself. For most of the 2021 season, Ollison was stuck on the practice squad but did get elevated to the active roster late in the year. He ran for 105 yards on 21 carries through eight games last year.
