For the 2nd year in a row, both Atlanta safeties ended the season banged up, further proof that this Falcons team wasn’t at 100%.
Falcons injury news to pass along: Ricardo Allen recently underwent shoulder surgery. He played the final few games with pain in his shoulder and got it checked out after the season. Rehab is expected to take multiple months.

Since it’s being reported Allen will be out “multiple months,” his status for the start of camp and OTAs is questionable. After tearing his Achilles and missing all of last season, Allen was playing through some pain. He had an up and down 2019 season, but he made one of the biggest plays in the Eagles game and did end the year with two interceptions. Safety play has been a sore spot for Atlanta, not due to talent but because of health. Kazee has been able to fill in nicely, but Neal and Allen haven’t been at the top of their game since the 2017 campaign. Kudos to Rico for toughing it out; his health, along with Neal’s, will be vital to the Falcons’ success in 2020.
