Although a lot of names were cut from Atlanta’s staff yesterday, Interim Defensive Coordinator Jeff Ulbrich was not among them. Fans were wondering if he would be retained, but he has joined Robert Saleh’s staff in New York.
Jeff Ulbrich, as mentioned there, will be DC and will call plays on Defense for the Jets.

Atlanta’s defense was greatly improved under Raheem Morris and Jeff Ulbrich, so I understand why New York would be interested. I’m super happy to see Morris, Quinn, and Ulbrich all get good jobs in the NFL in 2021 — they truly deserve it. I would have loved for Ulbrich to coach this linebacker group again, but he has earned his opportunity. He was the only Defensive Coordinator to hold Kansas City under 20 points in 2020, and Atlanta’s defense improved from 30th in dVOA to 8th under Ulbrich and Morris.
Congrats Coach Ulbrich!
