Even without a general manager named yet, national media outlets are reporting Atlanta may be close to hiring a head coach.
Several people around league have believed #Titans OC Arthur Smith is the front-runner for the #Falcons job. #Panthers OC Joe Brady still in the mix and did well in his interview. But with Smith having a second ATL interview today (as NFL Network said), could become his to lose

Arthur Smith has done some impressive things with the Titans, most notably helping to turn around the career of Ryan Tannehill and calling plays as Derrick Henry rumbled for over 2,000 yards. Smith & the Titans didn’t have their best game against Baltimore yesterday, but their O-Line has been beat up pretty badly. I still think he’s a very solid candidate. With a pretty poor defense, the Titans ranked 2nd in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, and total touchdowns scored.
Smith won’t have a Derrick Henry if he’s hired in Atlanta, but it would be nice to see the Falcons start running the ball with purpose again. Smith is probably the hottest name available, as he’s the only candidate to interview for every open Head Coaching position in the NFL. Right now, National Media is speculating that Terry Fontenot & Joe Brady are going to be the pairing for Atlanta, but it’s clear that no decision has been made yet.
It appears that Smith has a few more interviews with the Jets, Eagles, and Lions, so even if he is Atlanta’s top guy — the Falcons probably won’t have an answer for a few more days.
