Falcons release their Week 1 injury report

The Falcons released their first official injury report of the season, featuring a few critical pieces to the team.

Did Not Practice:

Jeff Okudah is the one to watch here, as Jonnu Smith was only on this list due to rest. He is expected to suit up against the Panthers. Okudah, on the other hand, looks like he could be a game-time decision. Arthur Smith did say the former #3 overall pick is doing better than expected and could be available, but it’s far too early to make that decision just yet.

Limited Participants:

Patterson hasn’t been practicing for weeks now because of a thigh injury. It looks as if his status is also up in the air for Week 1, which would be a detrimental blow to the Falcons skill position group. However, being that he’s a veteran who is very familiar with Arthur Smith’s system, there isn’t much reason for him to test things during practice. If he’s healthy come game day, expect him to be active, even if his role will not be as prominent as it might be later in the season.

KhaDarel Hodge has been dealing with an ankle injury. His presence isn’t as important as some of the others as the team’s fourth wide receiver, but he is one of the best players on the Falcons special teams unit. Hopefully, he’s also able to suit up come Sunday.
