Ahead of Sunday’s matchup with the Carolina Panthers, the Falcons announced they have released cornerback Kevin King.
The Atlanta Falcons have released CB Kevin King. The former second-round pick was a standout for the team in the preseason and showed off his versatility. He's mostly played special teams for the Falcons this season. https://t.co/ytt58W51xJ

King was a second-round pick by the Green Bay Packers in 2017, but his career has mostly been plagued by injuries and inconsistencies. He was picked up by the Falcons this offseason, and even though he hadn’t appeared in an NFL game since 2021, performed well enough to catch on with the practice squad.
King has appeared in five games for the Falcons this season, with most of his work coming on special teams. Only five of his 46 snaps have come on defense, and with the Falcons secondary performing better than most people expected coming into the season, they must have felt there to be a better use for the roster spot. King shouldn’t have much trouble continuing his NFL career. At the very least, he should be considered a practice squad candidate for a lot of teams.
