Vaughn McClure broke the news this morning that the Falcons dodged another bullet by not naming Dirk Koetter interim head coach.
Falcons make it official with Raheem Morris as interim head coach.

I think this was a good move, I wanted to give Ulbrich a shot, but I have no bones with letting Morris handle operations. When he took over defensive play-calling last season, the Falcons found a spark and peeled off 7 wins in 9 games. Even if you aren’t interested in winning games right now, Dirk Koetter is not fit to be leading this team.
Hopefully, we will see what Greg Knapp has as a play-caller on offense and Ulbrich on the defensive side. Both of these guys deserve a new opportunity elsewhere whenever the season ends. Dirk Koetter still needs to be dismissed, but giving Morris the nod over him is a good start… and everyone has to start somewhere. Even though Morris leads the obvious weak point of this team — the secondary — it’s more about getting morale up for 2021. This season is over.
Morris had a career 17-31 record as Tampa Bay’s head coach from 2009-2011.
