The Deshaun Watson saga in Atlanta has caused quite a mess, and the team’s leadership is to blame. Without landing Watson, the Falcons have just created a rift between themselves and Matt Ryan. The veteran quarterback has every right to demand a trade, but it seems he’s choosing a different route. According to Lance Zierlein, Ryan wants a brand new three-year deal.

This rumor comes just after reports surfaced the Falcons would now turn their attention to Ryan to make him feel wanted. The Falcons once again show they have incompetent leadership, and the buck stops with Arthur Blank. Atlanta really dug themselves a hole on this one, and I’m not sure how they’ll proceed.
Giving Ryan a contract extension would be gross incompetence on the organization’s part, but Ryan may be holding them hostage. Terry Fontenot should absolutely still look into trading him because there’s still a market and the relationship may be beyond repair.
