For the third time this season, the Falcons failed to record a sack. The pass rush is on pace for a historically bad season, and there’s no end in sight.
Jimmy Lake, Raheem Morris, and Atlanta’s personnel don’t have the answer to their pass rush woes, but perhaps one can be found ahead of the trade deadline. Unfortunately, Falcons fans shouldn’t have faith in Terry Fontenot. In three years, the club’s pass rush hasn’t improved one iota despite Atlanta’s GM investing considerable resources in it.
The Falcons have spent second-round picks on Arnold Ebiketie and Ruke Orhorhoro, third-round picks on DeAngelo Malone, Bralen Trice, Zach Harrison and Matthew Judon, Day 3 picks on Brandon Dorlus, Ta’Quon Graham, and Ade Ogundeji; yet, there’s been no hint of an improvement.
And to make matters worse for Falcons fans, we are watching potential trade targets come off the market for pennies. Josh Uche was just traded to the Chiefs, and all Kansas City sent to New England was a measly sixth-round pick.

Terry Fontenot’s seat should be warm, and depending on how this trade deadline goes, it could be scorching hot. At what point are we going to continue to put up with how bad of a GM he is?
Has he done some good things? Of course, but are we also praising the market-value signings of Jessie Bates and Kirk Cousins? That’s bare minimum stuff, in my opinion. The Falcons GM has to be better, and this trade deadline cannot come and go with Atlanta empty-handed.
Was Josh Uche going to turn around the Falcons pass rush single handidly? No, but he would’ve been a positive addition, and it only cost a sixth-rounder. Fontenot has shown no ability to draft consistently, so why exactly are you potentially hoarding Day 3 picks?
It’s time for some risk-taking.
