The Atlanta Falcons are expected to take a defender in the first round of this year’s draft, with most believing they will focus on the pass rush throughout, an area that’s been a weakness for far too long.
Among the possible sack artists that could be available for the Falcons at pick #15, nobody is as intriguing as Marshall’s Mike Green, who led the entire nation in sacks a year ago. The competition should deservedly be called into question, but 17 sacks at any level of Division 1 football is enough to garner a lot of attention from pro scouts, and his Pro Day performance, which Raheem Morris was in attendance for, should only further his rise up draft boards.

Mike Green’s shuttle would have ranked him second among defensive ends at the NFL Combine, while his 3-Cone Drill would have ranked first. Simply put: he’s an athletic specimen with the on-field production worthy of going in the top 10 in this year’s draft.
However, his off-the-field concerns could cause him to fall, giving the Falcons an opportunity to land him with the 15th pick. I don’t think there will be a better prospect available if that’s the case, forcing Atlanta to make a difficult decision.
Off-the-field issues have caused the Falcons to turn away in the past, most notably when they chose Bijan Robinson over Jalen Carter a couple of years ago. With that being said, the fact that Raheem Morris showed up to Mike Green’s Pro Day personally is a sign that Atlanta is at least considering him leading up to the draft.
