As if the season could not have gotten off to a worse start, the Falcons announced Tuesday that Deion Jones has been placed on injured reserve.

After Jones missed practice on Monday with a sore foot, Dan Quinn said that further tests would determine the course of action. Those results revealed the Pro-Bowl linebacker will need surgery.
Unlike Neal, Quinn stated that they do expect Jones to return at some point this season. Regardless, this is a gut punch to an organization that had high expectations coming into the year. The third-year linebacker was the highest rated defender for the Falcons in their 18-12 loss to the Eagles and made Pro Football Focus’s All Week One squad.
