In a pretty funny sequence of events, the Falcons and Patriots have essentially swapped players.
Atlanta claimed Andrew Stueber off the waiver wire on Tuesday afternoon. In a corresponding move, they parted ways with JaQuae Jackson, who New England just signed as first reported Thursday by Aaron Wilson.
Stueber is a former seventh-round pick from the 2022 NFL Draft. He came into the league out of Michigan with questions about his short area quickness but did possess intriguing size and strength.
After playing tackle for the Wolverines, the Pats kicked him inside to guard. Unfortunately, Stueber lost the 2022 season due to injury and still hasn’t seen any NFL action yet.
Good offensive linemen are a rarity in this league, so there’s certainly a path for Stueber to make the final 53-man roster or the practice squad. He joins a crowded position group in Atlanta, though.
As far as what the Falcons lost, rookie wideout JaQuae Jackson faced long odds to make Atlanta’s roster but was always going to catch on elsewhere because of his college production. Jackson played at California University of Pennsylvania as well as Rutgers, totaling 22 receptions and one touchdown during his lone season in the Big Ten.
