All Falcons are showing up to training camp today, and one with a ton of unanswered questions has arrived in a neck brace — Matt Gono.
#Falcons OL Matt Gono just showed up with a neck brace. He had offseason surgery.

Gono had undergone an undisclosed surgery, but reports suggested that it would not be a year-ending situation. The team addressed the lack of depth on the offensive line by bringing in Jason Spriggs, a former second-round pick of the Packers several years ago who has never been more than a reserve player. SportsTalkATL’s podcast Talkin’ Birdy’s host Matt Karoly has slowly uncovered bit by bit of Gono’s injury, which he believes to be a herniated disc.
Per source with knowledge of the situation, Gono’s injury is a herniated disc. This is a similar injury that kept JJ Watt out for the entire 2016 season. https://t.co/JZyQWbfDzE

This would make sense, given the neck brace report from D. Orlando Ledbetter. Either way, the Falcons don’t have a reliable swing tackle on the roster as it stands right now. We should continue to uncover reports as training camp proceeds and coaches are asked specific questions regarding Gono’s status. Be sure to check back here for all of your Falcons news.
