Falcons: Official doubles down on egregious no-call on Chiefs pass interference

NFL: SEP 15 Bengals at Chiefs

It is no longer a funny joke. The Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes are now the Tom Brady-era Patriots when it comes to getting calls from the refs, and the Falcons are just the latest example.

There were several questionable no-calls in Atlanta’s loss to Kansas City, but none compared to the egregious pass interference that was missed in the endzone. Kyle Pitts was clearly interfered with at a critical point in the ball game, one that would’ve put the Falcons offense on the one-yard line, needing a touchdown to go ahead.

To make matters worse, the refs are doubling down on the no-call. Tra Blake said the officials on the field didn’t see a penalty.

“That is a real-time call that officials have to make a judgment on. From the angle that they had at the time, they did not feel that there was a foul committed,” Blake told D. Orlando Ledbetter. “That is a judgment call and in real-time, with the angle we had, we did not feel that there was a foul committed,” Blake added.

The officials are humans and make mistakes; however, when they consistently benefit one side, it becomes skeptical. The Falcons don’t usually get the whistle, but most teams don’t get the kind of calls the Chiefs do. With that being said, this was a textbook pass interference, and it cost Atlanta the chance to win the football game.

There were 100 other plays that contributed to the Falcons’ loss, but it would’ve been an easier pill to swallow if the Chiefs weren’t bailed out by the refs.
