A few days ago, some believed Justin Fields to the Falcons was a foregone conclusion, at least that’s what the betting markets suggested.
However, the momentum of that ship has stalled significantly over the last 24 hours. The voice of the Minnesota Vikings, Paul Allen, recently said that the Falcons prefer Kirk Cousins over Justin Fields, and that it is not particularly close either.

This really shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, given who is now coordinating the Falcons offense. Zac Robinson stems from the Kyle Shanahan and Sean McVay coaching tree. Those guys have a type, and that type looks a helluva lot like Kirk Cousins, whose career began under Shanahan.
As of now, Cousins looks to be the Falcons Plan B, with Plan A being a trade up in the draft to select one of Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, or Drake Maye. Justin Fields feels more like Plan C or D, and that might be how a lot of teams are currently feeling. According to Dianna Russini, the market for Fields in not booming like the Bears might have hoped.
"I can tell you I don't think the market [for Justin Fields] is as robust as a lot of people thought…"

I still expect Fields to land on his feet and be a starting quarterback somewhere next season, but I would be pretty surprised if it were in Atlanta, even if the betting markets disagree. He hasn’t shown enough consistency over three years in the league, is up for a contract extension in the near future, would require parting ways with draft capital, and he doesn’t really fit what the Falcons are trying to do on offense with Zac Robinson calling the shots.
Justin Fields may end up in Atlanta, but I highly doubt he’s at the top of their wish list right now.
