Falcons new HC to have manageable 2024 schedule, opponents announced

The Falcons finished with a 7-10 record for the third straight season, and it cost Arthur Smith his job.

With a head coach opening, one of the biggest selling points is the NFC South. It’s the worst division in football and could easily be dominated through the decade if a club figures it out.

The Falcons finished third in the division, behind the Saints and Buccaneers, giving them a third-place schedule. Moreover, the club will draw the AFC West and NFC East division as its opponents for 2024.

Below is the Falcons home and away opponents:

Atlanta Falcons
Home: Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, L.A. Chargers, N.Y. Giants, Seattle Seahawks, Pittsburgh Steelers
Away: Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders, Minnesota Vikings

A couple of games that immediately jump out to me is the Cowboys and Chiefs. The Falcons aren’t a big draw so the chances of a primetime game is slim unless their opponents are a national brand. No club is bigger than Dallas, and nobody is bigger than Patrick Mahomes.

That will be two of the most intriguing home games for the Falcons next year. In terms of the away games, the Eagles, Broncos and Raiders immediately stick out to me. Philadelphia is a place that every football fan should go once. It lives up to its reputation. I’ve never been to Vegas and Allegiant Stadium is bucket list for me, so that’s one that I’ll probably be going to.

We don’t know the exact schedule yet, so some of these could be impacted by weather — Denver, Philadelphia, and Washington. But it’s setting up to be another manageable schedule for the Falcons and their new head coach.
