The Falcons are entering the final week of the regular season looking to play spoiler against their most hated division rival after being eliminated from postseason contention when they lost to the Bills last Sunday. The Saints have quite the uphill battle to get into the playoffs, but it starts with beating Atlanta in Mercedes Benz Stadium.
For the Falcons, they would love nothing more than to sweep New Orleans, which is something they’ve only done a few times in the Sean Payton era. However, for many fans, all eyes have turned to the 2022 offseason. Free agency looms, and the front office will have to decide whether or not to retain Cordarrelle Patterson, Younghoe Koo, and Foye Oluokun, among others. Terry Fontenot will also have even tougher decisions regarding the contracts of Matt Ryan, Grady Jarrett, and Deion Jones.
The offseason is so entertaining for fans because it allows them to play general manager as if it were franchise mode in Madden. Outside of free agency, the highlight of the offseason is the draft. The NFL has made April’s draft an event that a broad audience tunes into, and the Falcons will be selecting in the first half of the draft. It gives them a great chance to land someone of Kyle Pitts‘ caliber, and as the combine approaches, many college players and potential prospects are declaring for the draft that the Falcons should be interested in.
