Falcons most hated rival reaches a new low

NFL: DEC 15 Bills at Lions

The grass isn’t always greener, but sometimes, it is. The Falcons aren’t the smoothest-run operation, but there are worse situations to be in, like the Saints, who have reached a new low.

In the market for a head coach, they never had a shot at Ben Johnson, the hottest candidate of the hiring cycle, but Mickey Loomis and New Orleans thought they had the candidate that many considered to be the second-best option this offseason — Aaron Glenn.

After all, he played for the Saints and coached there before following Dan Campbell to Detroit to join his Lions staff, but they clearly never had a shot. He reportedly gave Loomis and the Saints’ entire organization a thanks-but-no-thanks before accepting the offer from the Jets.

The Falcons most hated rivals had Glenn on staff for five years under Sean Payton and Mickey Loomis. When given the opportunity to take over, he passed. He didn’t pass for some premier job either. He passed for the Jets.

The Falcons are a dumpster fire. The Jets are even worse, and somehow, the Saints are even worse than both. It should serve as a stark warning to Gayle Benson that her allegiances to Loomis should be reconsidered.

I mean, actually, say this out loud — Aaron Glenn chose the JETS over the SAINTS. That’s how low the Falcons’ division rival is right now. Woody Johnson is among the worst owners in sports, and Glenn still preferred New York over New Orleans.

Glenn joined a laughingstock rather than the Saints. Falcons fans shouldn’t throw stones from a glass house, but it is objectively hilarious to see Saints fans wallow in misery.
