Some positive news in a dreadful season? I’m here for it. Dan Quinn announced today that both Matt Ryan and Desmond Trufant will return to the practice field as they prep for their first divisional matchup (yes, you read that right) of the season.

Ryan exited Week 7’s matchup with the Rams after suffering an ankle injury. He missed the following contest against the Seahawks, but Matt Schaub actually filled in quite well, throwing for 460 yards. Still, the Falcons defense could not get any stops, as Atlanta was routed at home. With the bye coming in Week 9, Dan Quinn had already suggested that Ryan should be ready to go for their game this Sunday against the rival Saints.
Trufant has been out since Week 5 with a toe injury. The last time we saw him, he was getting lit up by Will Fuller. However, he’s still undoubtedly the leader of Atlanta’s young cornerback group. Having him back on the field raises the Falcons slim chances of winning in New Orleans.
