The Falcons recently announced they have trimmed the roster down to 85 after cutting four players and placing another on injured reserve.

The players released were tight end Tucker Fisk, defensive back Tre Webb, punter Seth Vernon, and linebacker Rashad Smith while placing cornerback Cornell Armstrong on the injured reserve.
None of these are exactly surprising, but Vernon’s status was always something to watch as the punter battle was down to him and Bradley Pinion, who had a leg up in the competition, given his past success. It seems there wasn’t much of a competition because it’s clear the Falcons are moving forward with Pinion as their specialist, and expectations are sky-high for the veteran.
Every NFL team’s roster must be reduced to 85 on Tuesday and will go down another five players this time next week, then the final 53-man roster must be announced the week after that.
