The Falcons have made several moves in the final moments of the NFL trade deadline. First, the team sent Calvin Ridley to Jacksonville. Now, Atlanta has acquired cornerback Rashad Fenton and his $1.4 million contract from the Chiefs for a conditional seventh-round pick.

Fenton was someone I floated the idea of trading for after AJ Terrell and Casey Hayward went down with injuries. Darren Hall, Mike Ford, Dee Alford, and Cornell Armstrong have performed admirably, but the front office clearly wasn’t content with the bodies in the corner room. Here’s what I had to say about a potential deal a short time ago.
“I doubt the Chiefs will trade any of their players, but Fenton is in the final year of his rookie deal and has struggled this season. Kansas City drafted Trent McDuffie, Joshua Williams, and Jaylen Watson this offseason, so I doubt they will re-sign Fenton following the season. It is possible they could be interested in moving him instead of losing him in free agency this spring for nothing. It shouldn’t take more than a Day 3 pick”
