The Falcons released their final injury report before Sunday’s game against the Cowboys, and as expected, Kendall Sheffield will not play for the second straight week.
Kendall Sheffield is officially ruled out for his second straight game, and starting left tackle Jake Matthews is listed as questionable for Sunday against the Cowboys. Rookie defensive tackle Marlon Davidson is doubtful. https://t.co/e7Vaf4gS0D

Since Sheffield was seen in a walking boot last week and has yet to practice, it was always highly doubtful that he took the field in Week 2.
More importantly, however, Jake Matthews has been listed as questionable with a knee injury. That same issue was bothering him against the Seahawks, but he gutted it out, which is a promising sign regarding his Week 2 status. So is this: Vaughn Mcclure said Matthews was practicing with the starters today.
If Matthews (knee) can’t go, Matt Gono would step in at left tackle. But Matthews was working with starters at practice today so we’ll see. Julio Jones (hamstring) will no status designation so ready to go, as Dan Quinn said. Marlon Davison still dealing with deep bone bruise. pic.twitter.com/Rwk0ZeMBCw

If I had to guess, as long as nothing pops up over the next couple of days, Matthews will suit up and start on Sunday. If he is out, however, expect Matt Gono to fill in for him.
As Mcclure also noted, rookie Marlon Davidson is doubtful. He has returned to the practice field, but Dan Quinn has continued to talk about him getting back into game shape and up to speed before making his NFL debut. It’s apparent he’s not quite there yet. Hopefully, we will get to see him in Week 3.
