The Falcons are dealing with a ton of minor injuries on both sides of the ball heading into Week 3 against the Bears. Guys like Jake Matthews, Julio Jones, Takk McKinley, and Dante Fowler are all questionable, but one player that will likely not be out there for the third consecutive week is second-year cornerback Kendall Sheffield — ESPN’s Vaughn Mcclure reported earlier today.
Falcons CB Kendall Sheffield not expected to be ready to play this week, source says. Sheffield has had his left foot in walking boot & missed first two games. Unclear if he’s still in boot, but might take him a minute to readjust if ready to do onfield… https://t.co/xj90dU85EX

As Mcclure said, Sheffield has been in a walking boot for a couple of weeks now. Hopefully, he is getting closer to a return, but it doesn’t look like it will be this week.
Prior to last Sunday’s loss to the Cowboys, Dan Quinn said he expected Sheffield to have a significant role in the defense whenever he does return. Based on how the Falcons’ cornerbacks have looked over the first two weeks of the season, it’s easy to see why that might be. Sheffield will be a welcomed presence whenever he does come back, which hopefully will be sooner rather than later.
